We are pleased to present you today the latest information from the Wolfburn Distillery, which we have compiled for you:
12 years old
46 % | 70cl
The 12-year-old was matured in equal parts of hand-selected ex-Oloroso and ex-Bourbon casks. Bottled naturally without chill filtration and without coloring.

Colour: copper.
Nose: A delightful blend of sweet and floral aromas, overlaid with a subtle hint of peat smoke.
Palate: A wonderful depth of flavor. Notes of honey and burnt sugar mingle with gentle spices, and the sherry sweetness is present throughout.
Finish: The finish is long, persistent and delicious, with traces of dried fruit and caramel lingering until the end.
Cognac Cask Finished aged 8 years
46 % | 70cl
This exceptional whisky has been maturing in first-fill bourbon casks since 2017. It received its final touches in hand-selected cognac casks for the last six months. The result: a symphony of luxurious aromas – honey-like fruits, warming spices, and a luscious sweetness that lingers long after the finish. A total of 3’900 bottles were produced.

Colour: copper.
Nose: Notes of dried fruit blend with sweet cognac aromas, followed by vanilla flavors with hints of coffee and dark chocolate.
Palate: Dried apricots and almonds are layered with vanilla, accompanied by subtle notes of warm spices. After a while, barley sugar and soft dark chocolate emerge.
Finish: Incredibly sweet, with vanilla and autumn fruits fading gently, leaving only a trace of caramel and sea salt at the end.
The Anniversary Series 2025
53.5 % | 70cl
The 2025 bottling of The Anniversary Series comes from cask no. 163, an exceptional ex-Oloroso Butt. Distilled in 2013, the cask has now been bottled as a 12-year-old whisky. 749 bottles of this limited edition are available.

Colour: copper.
Nose: Strong sherry aromas blend perfectly with the sweet floral notes typical of Wolfburn.
Palate: Oak and vanillin are immediately present, accompanied by sherry sweetness and a hint of dark syrup. After a moment, honey, butterscotch, burnt orange, and much more unfold, all in wonderful harmony.
Finish: We end where we began, with wonderful sweet sherry notes that provide a nice long, lingering finish.
The Kylver Series 15 «Algiz»
The Kylver Series is named after a gravestone bearing one of the earliest examples of the Viking runic alphabet, and to reflect the Caithness history surrounding the distillery. The runic alphabet has 25 characters. This bottling is made from a unique combination of first-fill bourbon casks and a first-fill oloroso sherry hogshead. 670 bottles will be released worldwide.

Colour: Light amber.
Nose: Sweet heather honey and light oak blend with dried fruits, beautiful and rich overtones of Demerara sugar and molasses.
Palate: Intoxicating – this is truly a sumptuous wine. Maple syrup sets the tone, layered with creamy chocolate. Over time, deeper, more subtle flavors unfold: dried autumn fruits and mild spices are present, later revealing a rich butterscotch note on the palate.
Finish: Light oak notes linger until the end, overlaid with floral honey tones. A truly exceptional whisky, in many ways the perfect example of Wolfburn’s craftsmanship.
The history of the old Wolfburn Distillery dates back to 1821, when it was founded by William Smith & Co. However, production ceased shortly thereafter in 1850. Two decades later, only ruins remained of the former distillery.
In May 2011, Aurora Brewing, a private consortium from Caithness led by Andres Thomsen and Harry Tayler, decided to make a fresh start and in 2012 received authorisation from the authorities to plan and build a distillery called Wolfburn. The first whisky flowed from the stills on 25 January 2013 – the first bottlings were launched on the market in February 2016. The distillery now stands around 350 metres from the ruins of the former one.
