Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

whi_she

The Spencerfield Spirit Company, which introduced the Sheep Dip, has been part of the Scottish Ian Macleod Distillers since 2016. However, they continue to produce the blend of malts of different ages and characteristics.

Black distilled whisky used to often be stored in casks labelled SD for “Sheep Dip”. This is an insecticide and pesticide that was used in sheep farming. This allowed the whisky to be concealed from the tax authorities – and probably also from wives.

A great whisky does not always have to come from just one distillery; nor should age be the only measure of its quality. Here is a blend of whiskies of various ages between 8 and 21 years old from first-fill oak casks. Each malt brings its own characteristics to create this exceptional blend. Available are “The Original Oldbury Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky” and the “Sheep Dip Blended Islay Scotch Whisky”.
