Kilkerran Campbeltown Single Malt Whisky

Glengyle Distillery, the home of Kilkerran single malt, was founded in 2000 and started production in 2004 after the distillery was remodelled. Hedley G. Wright, the great-grandnephew of William Mitchel, who founded the original Glengyle Distillery, reopened this historic distillery not least to protect Campbeltown’s status as an official whisky region, which was in jeopardy at the time. The name Kilkerran is derived from the Gaelic “Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain”, the original name of the settlement where Campbeltown is located today.

At the heart of the Kilkerran range is the 12-year-old flagship, which is matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks and delivers beautiful citrus notes. Then there is an annual 16-year-old that particularly impresses with a fresh, smoky finish. There is also a limited 8-year-old bottling at cask strength (currently 57.4%) and two batches of heavily peated Kilkerran every year.
