In 1887, in the midst of the sugar crisis, Homère Clément, mayor of Le Francois in Martinique, bought the bankrupt sugar cane farm in his village and saved it from ultimate ruin. However, he no longer wanted to produce sugar, but to distil rum.Clément’s “Créole Shrubb Orange Liqueur” is produced according to a traditional, centuries-old recipe. Rhums are mixed with cane sugar syrup, spices and orange peel. In “Mahina Coco”, the coconut plays the main role alongside the rhum.
