Founded in 1910, the Kurayoshi distillery is located in the picturesque prefecture of Tottori at the foot of Mount Daisen. This region, which is known for its fermentation and distillation traditions, offers an ideal setting for the production of high-quality whisky. The crystal-clear water, which is filtered through the volcanic rock of Daisen, is a key component in the production of the distillery’s whiskies, as it gives them an unrivalled softness and purity.
The single malts from The Matsui are the result of meticulous craftsmanship and age-old traditions. They mature in American oak, Mizunara oak and Sakura barrels and are characterised by their aromatic complexity and richness of flavour. What makes The Matsui single malt whiskies even more unique are the labels, which feature traditional Japanese works of art. All the bottles are decorated with famous paintings and therefore also provide a window into Japan’s artistic heritage.
