St. Lucia Distillers was founded in 1972 and is the only distillery on St. Lucia. It was created from the merger of the last two distilleries on the island, Dennery and Roseau Distillery.
Laurie Barnard – heir to the local Barnard family, who owned the Dennery distillery – was convinced that the best rums do not come from a single barrel, but from a blend of different components (age, finish, style and raw materials). This is how he came to found the Chairman’s Reserve brand in 1999. The rum is produced using both stills and a distillation column before the alcohol volume is reduced with rainwater from the valley. Chairman’s Reserve is also known for its famous spiced rum, which is inspired by the authentic spiced rum tradition of St. Lucia. This rum, which has won numerous awards over the years, is the flagship of St. Lucia and is as iconic as the Pitons mountains that adorn its bottle.
