Located in the west of Mauritius, the Medine distillery has been producing since 1926, making it the oldest distillery on the island. It lies at the heart of the sugar plantation, from the sugar cane of which the precious molasses is produced and distilled for the “Penny Blue”. The name is reminiscent of the legendary “Blue Mauritius”, a stamp that fetches record prices.
Jean Francois Koenig, Master Distiller of the Medine Distillery, and his team combine their knowledge to select the best barrels at the peak of their maturity and achieve the maximum aroma, flavour and finish for the “Penny Blue”.
