Lagg Distillery has been awarded “Distillery of the Year 2023”!

Renowned Lagg Distillery on the Isle of Arran has been awarded “Distillery of the Year” and “Excellence in Branding” at the Scottish Whisky awards 2023, which were celebrated in Glasgow.

The Scottish Whisky awards are an independent awards programme honouring whisky distilling in Scotland. The national celebration of Scottish whisky is the only drinks competition in the world dedicated solely to the Scotch whisky business as it enters its fifth annual competition. An independent judging panel, made up of a diverse group of professionals from Scotland, the UK, and beyond assessed entries in both the taste competition and the business competition.

Lagg Distillery is the sister of independently owned Lochranza Distillery which was established at the north end of the island in 1995 and produce Arran Single Malt. The building of the new distillery and its magnificent visitor centre was completed in 2019. The architects have designed a spectacular building that echoes the contours of Arran as you’d see it from Ailsa Craig and celebrates the unique geography of the surrounding environment by using dramatic roofs which are covered by a sedum blanket of seasonal plants.

Lochranza Distillery, their sister distillery also on The Isle of Arran picked up “Best Under 12 non peated (10 Year Old)” and Arran 10 were awarded Gold in its category.
