Lochlea Fallow Edition (Second Crop) & first single cask for Switzerland

Fallow is the time between autumn and winter when the harvest is complete and the fields lie fallow to recover for the season ahead. Fallow is also one of the bottlings in the Lochlea Distillery’s quarterly Small Batch series which arrived along with our first Single Cask.

With the seasonal small batches, the characteristic Lochlea style is presented in four different ways each year. Being a working farm, these bottlings reflect the agricultural calendar. “Fallow” represents the period after harvest when the fields lie fallow and rest. The “Fallow Edition” (Second Crop) – limited to 11’0000 bottles worldwide – uses a combination of Oloroso and Pedro-Ximenez sherry casks to create a wonderfully rich, autumnal dram that has a very different flavour profile from last year’s “Fallow Edition”. The oloroso casks provide rich notes of manuka honey and golden syrup, while the PX casks provide warming layers of sweetly spiced ginger candy and ground coffee beans.

Lochlea Lowland Single Malt Single Cask #90 “Exclusively Bottled for Charles Hofer SA”

70 cl | 60.8 %

This is the first single cask bottled exclusively for Switzerland. The choice fell on a first fill bourbon cask to be able to present as many of the typical Lochlea flavours as possible. The whisky was filled into the ex-bourbon barrel on 3 October 2018 and bottled on 10 August 2023. Of course, without cold filtration and without colouring.
