Our latest Berrys’ bottling – a Ledaig 2009

Berrys’ Own Selection Whisky’s – bottled exclusively for Charles Hofer SA

With two Royal Warrants and a history stretching back over 300 years, Berry Bros. & Rudd is Britain’s original wine and spirits merchant. The company is family-owned and has been based at No. 3 St. James’s Street since 1698.

A Ledaig from the Isle of Mull

Tobermory is the main town on the island of Mull, a picturesque harbour town with pastel-coloured buildings overlooking the bay and the distillery where peated and unpeated single malt whisky is produced. This is the original style and known as Ledaig, pronounced «Laycheck» by the locals.

Unmistakably Ledaig; aromas of smoky bacon, seaweed and peat smoke appear on the nose, with hints of fresh green fruit and citrus emerging over time. The palate is equally distinctive, offering smoked meats, dried barley and plenty of coastal peat. The long finish brings some spice along with salty peat smoke; few drams are as reminiscent of a fresh, breezy day on the west coast of Scotland as this one.
