This is a 12-year-old, unpeated whisky. It was initially matured for six years in first and second-fill bourbon casks, then transferred to first-fill casks previously used for Spanish red wine and matured in Dunnage Warehouse No. 4.
Colour: Rich ruby red.
Aroma: Bright, with caramelised fruit and hazelnuts. Slight hint of salted caramel and savoury grapefruit peel.
Palate: Full-bodied and with a lot of complexity. Oak-accentuated, with dark red berries and creamy vanilla. A hint of ginger, sweet spices and aniseed.
Finish: Long, complex and delicious. Vanilla and toasted oak linger with a sweet candy note.
The Isle of Arran lies between the mainland and the elongated Kintyre peninsula. It is often referred to as “Scotland in miniature” due to its scenic features and charms. There has been a legal distillery there again since 1995, the Lochranza Distillery. Since 2018, there has even been a second one under the same ownership, the Lagg Distillery.
